The Wafer

My family has a dog.  I use the term loosely, since I don't think that chihuahuas count.  But this dog get easily excited and pees everywhere.  And because of this the dog is not allowed in the house.  And this dog loves to be around me.  And I am terrified that the creature will pee on me.  So when he sneaks into the house I run into a room with a working door and shut it while calming informing the rest of the family that the dog is in the house at the top of my lungs.  This animal's name is Wafer, but I just call it the Wafer.  It really is a rather cute creature, but the only animals I really like are fish, because they don't actually do anything except sit where you put them.  Dogs and cats are cute and all, but they require too much work.  And I have woken up to too many piles of poop to ever allow one into my house when I grow up.  And trust me, getting out of bed and stepping in a pile of poop is the least fun thing that I have ever done.  Except maybe discovering the dried piles of poop that were under my bed from the kitten that hated people.  That was pretty bad too.

I'm old

Just so you all know I am incredibly old.  My baby sister is getting baptised today.  Not Baby Sis, but the sister just older than her.  Princess.  Princess is now 8, and I'm old.  How can my second to youngest sibling be getting baptized?  I don't like this, not one bit.  I can't be that old.  And by the time Baby Sis gets baptized I'm going be out of school.  Do you know how scary that is?  It is the most horrifying thing ever.  I can not possibly be done with school.  Ever, not ever.  I mean I've been going to school my whole entire life.  What on earth will I do without it.  And on top of that I recently learned that Mish's mom and my mom have discussed a possible marriage between our families.  And that can only mean a possible marriage between Mish and myself, since Drama (my sister) and Geek (his brother) were never as close and me and Mish.  And Thing 1 (another sister of mine) and Thing 2 (his younger sister) obviously can't be getting married.

Life this week

Well, things are just kind of going.  I've been getting enough sleep this week, finally.  And Christmas went well.  I got Fiddler on the Roof the movie, Great Expectations the book, Rummikub the game, a picture of a pink flamingo and a few other things.  It's been nice being home.  I got to hang out with Mish on Christmas Eve, we went to Hometown Buffet with one of Mish's friends.  Mish paid, but that was just because I was all that excited about spending any money.  Not because it was a date, which it most certainly was not.  And I got to play with Mish's nieces. They were so adorable.  One was only a month old, and she didn't quite know what to do when I was holding her, after all I'm a new face.  But the ten month old was just so cute and enjoyed playing peek-a-boo with me.  And I got to talk to Mish's two older sisters that I am also pretty good friends with, but they both were in college before I had a chance to get really close to them.  I've also been able to spend a couple nights at my cousin's house, although Baby Sis has been extremely upset both times I left.  Although she woke up this morning and the first thing she said was "Unit's gone, so we don't have to save a plate for her anymore." I then sat up and told her that I was not leaving until next week sometime.

Sisters

Sister 1:Boy's hands smell bad.  And at dances the boy's armpits - I mean the boy's hands touch your armpits.  So then you have to take a bath tomorrow. Right?
Sister 2: Yes I do.  Why else do you think going to a dance would need a shower afterwards?
Sister 1: Food gets in your armpits.
Sister 2: Food does?
Sister 1: Yes!
Sister 2:Okay well then... What about the fact I that I might get sweaty dancing?
Sister 1: (long pause)  There's air conditioning.

Who needs sleep?

So I'm sitting here awake at 3:30 am. Working on my final that is due in less than twelve hours.  But not to worry, I'm almost done.  And then I'll be going to sleep, until 8:30 when I have to get up and go to work.  And then I will turn in my final, and then I'll come back to my apartment and sleep.  And then on Tuesday I'll go and take two finals, then I'll take my last final on Wednesday and then I'll be done.  And then on Thursday I'll be heading home.  So I'm happy.  And just have like a billion more pages to write until then.  So I must take leave.

The Cougareat

So I went to turn in my uniform today. They have terminated my employment and never told me.  I could have used the $20 deposit back.

My names

I have many nicknames.  And I have decided to give them to you now, at least those that I can without giving away my real name, which as far as I know, you all know any way.  But whatever.
Unit of Energy, the name I most often go by online.  Comes out my lack of creativity and a real life nickname.
Tootrue4u, tootrue4you, other online names.  Not commonly used, but good standbys where I don't want people to know Unit of Energy, as Unit of Energy is easier to trace back to the real me.
Frenchy, and not because of Grease.  I didn't even see Grease until I was at BYU.  No, frenchy is a result of my French background.  Well French-Canadian, but my ancestors were among the original French colonists.  And the first people to settle Quebec.  So I am French.  And I blame the French for all my problems. This nickname was given by a seminary teacher in my stake. It was kept there, until one day Mish and Silver heard the seminary teacher call me frenchy.  And then it stuck with me for the rest of High School.  Mostly because I hated being called frenchy.
The Girl,  my least favorite nickname, this is what my parents and brother called me when I was little, like baby little, until about two.
Twiglt, twiggy, twigs Twiglt was the first of this series of names.  It was Halloween and there was a pumpkin carving contest.  I was trying to carve "twilight" into the pumpkin.  Yeah, I left a few letters out.  And the resulting word has been my name ever since.

An apology

To katydid, I'm using your computer.  I'm sorry, but I needed to check my email.  I promise I did not log out of anysites you were logged into.  I checked.  my internet doesn't work.  I even tried to plug my computer into your internet jack, it still didn't work.  I hate my computer right now.

3 out of 6, when is it my turn?

So I got an invitation to a bridal shower today.  One of my freshman year roommates is getting married.  She'll be the third of us.  The first got married in August, and the second will be getting married in January.  I don't know when B will be getting married.  I didn't even know she was engaged. I know that I'll get married too, some day.  But I just want it to be now.  Or rather, I want to be dating now.  To at least be attempting to find Thomas.  My mother has even given me permission to get married now.  When I was all in love with Mish and Falsetto freshman year she told me to wait for Falsetto.  I was too young to get married.  But now I have her blessing and no man.  Although finding Thomas is a necessary thing before I even attempt a wedding.  You know, because it would just be disturbing to marry myself.

papers

So all my papers are written. For the rest of the semester. It makes me happy.

How to eat with no money

An essay of experience.
By Unit.

1. Every chance you get, have your parents take you to bulk stores, such as Costco. Convince them to pay for your purchases at said time. Buy things such as frozen chicken, granola bars, beef jerky, and instant oatmeal.
2. Steal from your family food storage every trip home. Take things that you will likely never eat until you are starving, like brown rice and raw oats.
3. In times of plenty buy sugars, granulated, powdered, and brown. These will serve you well when you are sick of not having sweets, but can't afford a candy bar.
4. Live near relatives. visit them randomly. They will feed you.
5. Attend all ward and complex activities. Chances are there will be food. December is especially good for this.
6. Get a boyfriend. I hear that they will sometimes feed you. Going on dates will work as well. This step is one that I have yet to accomplish.
7. Don't be picky. Food is food. Candy counts. The booths in the Wilk are great when you are starving.
8. Get a job that feeds you. Not one that gives you a lunch break, but one that will give you food. Although these jobs are few and far between, they are definitely worth it.
9. Have some money for things like bread and milk. These will help a lot in trying food times.
10. Find cheap sources of food. While not free, I have found a relatively decent lunch for under 75 cents in the twilight zone.
11. Learn how to survive on less food than you would prefer. This is doable. You really don't need a lot, you're just used to eating a lot.
12. The best way to eat with no money is to go home until your next paycheck.
Remember, you will get through this. You will have money again. If you're very desperate, you can always post on your blog and hope food comes your way. (but don't try this. Begging is not an acceptable way to get food, unless you don't have a job.)

PS This is not a plea for help. I'm not that desperate yet.

Boredom

So this is post 51.  I completely missed post 50, although I don't know why that should be such a milestone.  It's not like any special will happen to me, and I don't believe in give aways.  Unless you give to me.  I don't even have the money to make you cookies so deal with my unobserved 50th post.  And on to 51, In which I am very bored, sick of school and wondering how I managed to get so much out of Walter F. Gonzalez's talk that he gave in priesthood session October 2007.
But for post 51 I thought I would give you all a story.  This is a true story about a boy I once knew and I.  We were good friends in High School, you may know of him as Missionary Boy.  So Mish and I used to get into playful spats over silly things.  Nothing to violent, but then again I was a little scared of him.  Now Mish is the sweetest guy I have known, with the possible exception of Falsetto.  But Mish was -is- stronger than me and could easily overpower me, and most any one I know, if he really wanted to.  I'm just glad he's on my side if I really need it.  Any way, You may have noticed the picture I use on my blogger profile.  This is a representation of the only way I could possibly beat Mish in a fight.  They say the pen is mightier than the sword, so I'll let you have the pen in a duel.  And the lame computer drawing is of me and Mish in a duel where I have the sword and he has a pen.  Just so you know, he would probably still manage to disarm me and win, even if I had the sword.  Gosh I miss that kid. Anyway, that is why a blonde girl is holding a sword to a boy with no clear weapon but pen and paper.  And I'll have you know that that particular image took me about three hours to perfect.  Or maybe only one, I don't rightly recall.

My Novel

Well, I did it.  I finished a 50,000 word story in 30 days.  But wasn't nearly as satisfying as I would have liked.  It was a lame end, constantly refering to the 1440 great aunt.  and for a demonstration cut and paste, this is what much of my story looks like: great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great A Rant about Spell Check

So I'm sure many of you remember the old poem that was a classic email forward
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.

Well, now I have problems with my spell check.  I'm writing a character bio sheet as the beginning of my novel and one character helps another character find a third character.  And my grammar check part of my spell check decided that it would be better if A helped B fined C.  Which just made me laugh.  And decide that spell checks are complete idiots.
Take another example from my novel, which also likes to re-highlight mistakes, "She's an evil woman intent on taking over the world"  it suggests removing the "an"
Or how about this gem "They have normal names, none of the rest of us do." What does grammar check suggest? Does, instead of do.
Spelling and grammar checks leave me scratching my head in wonder at what other things are mistakes.

Lighting

So I'm sitting here desperatly grasping words from the dictionary and putting them in my novel.  30,000 words to write between now and midnight tomorrow.  Yeah, I'm going to win, just so you know, but it will involve repeating many greats and eliminating contractions and using full names at every opportunity.  But any how I'm writing and then this appears on my page. "like an incandescent bulb on the ceiling of the sky."  What?  I'm not even refering to the sun.  oh well.

Thanksgiving.

100 Things I’m thankful for.
1. Life. You have no idea how happy living makes me.
2. Falsetto. So he never writes me, and I’m likely never to see him again. But he gave me hope that somewhere out there is a man who is perfect for me.
3. Cousin. Yeah my roommates tease me about my relationship with my cousin. But I’m glad he’s around. And I’m secretly happy that he didn’t get his mission call yet. I know I’m horrible.
4. Baby Sis. She is the most adorable sister I’ve ever had. And I have five of them. How many four year olds are there that request to hear Picture to Burn by Taylor Swift before a Miley Cyrus song?
5. Mad Libs. For all the fun memories of playing this game with my cousins and sisters. Of course I did invent a slightly different way to play.
6. More Bad Times by The Presidents of the United States. I just love this song.
7. Harry Potter. Do you know how many times I got calls at really stressful moments that were just the relief I needed based on the latest theory? The sibling theory, the snape-lily-james love triangle, Snape is good etc. I also got many well researched essays on the subject. Gotta love sisters.
8. Sisters. Even though I didn’t get along with all of them all the time.
9. Missionary Boy. For showing me that I can have friends. And for always being there for me. And for calling me. And for staying friends with me despite our siblings planning our wedding (10/10/10 for those interested.). And for admitting to liking me. And for going to the Mormon Prom with me. And I think that maybe I’m not completely over him like I thought I was.
10. Names. I have several name books I’m working on, as well as a collection of name books larger than most expectant mothers. And yes I’m aware how awkward that is, no I don’t care.
11. Free shipping. It makes me happy when I don’t have to pay to have stuff shipped to me. Of course Uncle Shipping Services will be closing down soon. But it was great while it lasted.
12. Telephones. To keep in touch with quickly departing friends.
13. Facebook. To reconnect with other friends.
14. Flash drives. It makes me happy that I can write at home and work on it at school without emailing to myself.
15. My name songs. It makes me happy that even when My name broke up with the guy singing he still loves her.
16. Free laptop checkouts from the library.
17. Zoo Tycoon. Yes, I know I’m probably a bit old to still play it, but hey.
18. Oregon Trail. See above
19. Sleep.
20. Food Storage. Because that is how I’m able to eat between now and Christmas.
21. I-15. And the fact that my parents can pick me up if they need to to take me home for Christmas.
22. Movies. They help to pass the time away when I have nothing to do for an entire week alone.
23. Books. Reading is quite fun and another good time waster.
24. Random people I don’t know who are willing to have me for Thanksgiving dinner.
25. The fact that no one wants to let a person stay home alone for Thanksgiving. More free food for me. J
26. My four year old sister for doing funny things, such as a watching and doing a work out video called “walk away the pounds” daily. And yes I’m counting her twice. Her and her antics are two different things.
27. Cities and Knights. I just wish that I had it and people to play it with.
28. Dates with my mom. Even though I’m like a thousand miles away now every time I go home I still get to go out with just my mom and me on something fun, not just a shopping trip.
29. My printer, even if it hates me right now. It still scans. This makes me happy.
30. Magazines. Because they provide amazing pictures of people and things for me to scan as inspiration for stories.
31. Chicken Soup Books, for those last minute FHE lessons.
32. Selling back textbooks, so I have money for Christmas gifts.
33. Ice cream.
34. Nesquik, to mix into the ice cream.
35. Cereal and the strange habit I have of eating it dry. Less milk I have waste making my cereal soggy when I could be drinking it
36. My older brother. Even though I never see him anymore.
37. Tiny blank books. They make me happy, especially when accompanied by an equally small pen. Pocket sized for when inspiration strikes.
38. The Scriptures.
39. Earrings. Yeah, I realize that they are nowhere near as important as the previous entry, but hey, this list isn’t in any order.
40. Computers. I like not have to write everything out by hand.
41. The internet. I love being able to connect with people.
42. Orange sticky notes. Because one with David’s address has a place above my computer.
43. Cameras, because I love to see pictures of what my family looks like since I’ve been away for two years.
44. The annual Christmas pageant my family puts on with our cousins. And the strange roles that are included in the cast. Such roles include the camel that the wise men ride, a devil/angel mix, and a super hero. Yes, we once had a super hero visit the baby Jesus at our re-enactment of the first Christmas.
45. Random writing exercises. To exercise and improve my writing skills which have long been neglected.
46. Hobo Blanket, a blanket I’m currently crocheting out of the random skeins of yarn that my mom sent me.
47. Umbrellas. I just like them.
48. Bobbi, my pink gender confused teddy bear.
49. Having a closet to myself. But not the monster that lives in the closet.
50. Backpacks. The amazing ability they have of holding massive amounts of books.
51. Libraries. Because book aren’t cheap.
52. TV shows online, because I don’t have time to watch them when they air.
53. Cell phones, so I can call my mom whenever I feel like it.
54. Online games. I like wasting time.
55. iPods. Just because.
56. Free music, legally.
57. Post-it notes, they make marking things to scan much easier.
58. Hair dryers, which make my life easier, so that I don’t freeze my hair walking to finals. True story.
59. Lotion, because Utah is far too dry
60. Chapstick, ditto.
61. Chocolate, which I didn’t even like until College.
62. Snow. I love snow.
63. Rain is equally welcome.
64. Gray clouds. I don’t why, but they make me happy.
65. Bacon. Bacon is the best thing that comes from dead pigs. The second best is ham.
66. Friends.
67. Roommates that I can live with.
68. The 100 hour board.
69. Pants. They are so much more comfortable than skirts.
70. Skirts, they are much more elegant than pants.
71. My job. How many people do you know that can talk to their mom for twenty minutes, do a week’s worth of homework and get fed at work while getting paid?
72. The ability to say no.
73. The ability to lie, now before you go judging me, these two things have saved from many awkward and possibly life threatening situations. (The 31 year old man, the creepy lady who walked into my house when I was 10, etc)
74. Mormon myths, so what if they aren’t true, they still make me happy.
75. The number 9. I’m glad it survived being eaten.
76. Netflix, for all the strange and wonderful things that it recommends to me.
77. Having the apartment to myself for awhile, doesn’t matter how long.
78. Writing. I love to write, I really truly do.
79. The begat chapters. Sorry, they were always my favorite. It probably has something to do with how many names are in them.
80. Canada, yes I know, but I’m half Canadian (ok so I’m half French-Canadian, but it’s Canadian.)
81. France, because I can blame all my weirdness on being French.
82. Little Caesars hot and ready pizza.
83. Tithing.
84. Mechanical pencils.
85. Candy. Delicious delightful candy.
86. Pell Grants.
87. Crayons.
88. My scarf.
89. Quote walls. Gotta love them.
90. Divine Comedy.
91. Shoes. I love shoes, they are the best things ever invented fashion wise. Mostly because they are the only fashion pieces that I can buy without needing advice.
92. Bare feet, because as much as I love shoes, there’s nothing like having nothing on your feet at all.
93. Fingers, because without them I wouldn’t be able to write.
94. Hair. I love my hair.
95. The fact that my parents names are in the Houseboat Honeymoon program as donators to the TMA program.
96. Thermometers. I like to take my temperature a lot. My normal temperature is 97.5 Fahrenheit FYI
97. Rapunzel, the best fairy tale of them all.
98. Disney movies.
99. Musicals.
100. That I finally reached 100 on this list.
This morning I woke up and my hand felt wierd, almost like I had bitten it during the night.  But there were no bite marks.  And since my roommates have all left I didn't have anyone else to tell this to.

Yesterday I went to Temple Square.  It was fun because I got to see the Beehive house for the first time.

Twilight - possible spoilers

Not that any of my fine readers care about Twilight, no offence if you do.  I find the books and now the film to be mental junk food, fun and amusing, but not well made or of any real value.  I think my favorite part of the night was that I was in the auditorium where there was a proposal half an hour before the film started.
The movie was a lot of tension, and really a little bit overboard in the "I love you, I need you, I'm/You're dangerous, You should/ I don't care" crap that is so prevelant in anything twilight.  But hey, it made me laugh.  And the credits were done in a very interesting way, it never faded to  black in the background.  Now I know this has been done before, but still.  And I found it funny that they called it a photoplay in the credits.  yes, Twilight is not a film, it is not a movie, it is a photoplay.

I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors above my normal in this post, I'm not feelling too hot today and don't feel like wearing my glasses, because I'm likely to return to bed at any time.

Twilight-No spoilers

I just got back from the Midnight showing of Twilight.  And I'm exhausted and need to right a paper on Hamlet, which I failed to read, due tomorrow.   So I must sleep, but soon you will hear my thoughts and musing on the film.  Which I found to be quite amusing for many reasons.  One of which was the reason for the PG-13 rating "a sense of sensuality".  And many other things.  Which I'll tell you all later.  And will probably contain spoilers.  But now I am off to Cliff notes, or however you spell it or call it.  I don't usually  approve of such things, but when I had two days and no time to finish two movies, two plays and three papers I'll have to make an exception.

1.  I don't like following rules, I have decided that since I typed 2879+ words yesterday I will keep them in.  At least until  I reach a point where I'm going to exceed my word count without it. And I won't
tag any one for this either.
2. my two best friends in high school and I had a strange familial relationship in which Missionary Boy and I were engaged and Silver was Mish's step mother.  Mish and I finally broke off our "engagement" six months later on the way home from a youth temple trip.
3. I enjoy waking up early, but rather like staying up late and these two things are miserable when combined in the same night.
4. I love fairytales, especially the unsanitized ones from pre-victorian times.  After that they get rather lame.  And I've always had a certain love for the tale of Bluebeard, and how Perrault included it in his collection because of it's moral.  Yeah, bet you didn't know there was a moral to the story of a wife killing creep.  Wanna know what it is?  Feminine curiousity is a bad thing.
5. I also love names.  I think I may have mentioned this, but yeah.  I have something like fifteen name books in my room. Provided I can locate them.  I haven't actually counted in awhile.  The last name book I purchased was the baby name survey by Bruce Lansky.  Should I have bought it, no.  Do I regret buying it.  Absolutely not.
6. I have a weakness for earrings, I always have.  Before I got my ears pierced I would torture myself with magnetic earrings.  And I once had a conversation with some guy friends, in the presence of the guy I liked, about earrings and how I wouldn't know what to do with them if someone gave them to me since I didn't have pierced ears.  They gave me funny looks, after all I was currently wearing earrings that were not clearly magnetic.  And about a week later I did get my ears pierced, my cousin was in town and offered to pay and since I'd been planning on getting my ears pierced any way I got them pierced when someone else was paying.  Saved me thirty something dollars.
7.  I have a short attention span.  And I tend to ramble a lot.

Cheating

So I wrote a lot in my novel today. Unfortunately I'm not sure if i should keep it in. After all, I wrote the word great 2879 times. But it was an important thing for me to establish, the ancient age of the villain. Who is the MC's best friend's 1440th great aunt. And twin to the best friend's 1439th great grandfather. and I wrote out that many greats. and yes, my villain has just established that she is 26,000 years old. (25 years old at the birth of the first niece or nephew, and 25-ish years between each generation there after). And don't worry, as soon as I have that many words with out the greats I will take them out. although it certainly was a tedious process typing out that many greats. great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great... And I do promise that my word count will always reflect the current number of words in my novel. Which means that tommorrow I will be down about 2000 or so from now.

the joy of technology

So I have recently taken to checking out laptops from the library. This is to ensure that I get the most writing time possible in a day. It also serves to help me take notes, since I hate writing by hand and having a computer to take notes on has been a great help this week. But it has served to make me anxious for the day when I can have my own laptop. And it is still a distraction. After all I'm sitting here typing a blog entry when I should be reading Mother Courage and writing a paper about it. I really hate writing for a grade. It takes all the joy and fun out of writing. And I really wish I could find my book of writing exercises. And I still need to finish the short story about Lilac, Isaac and the fudge. I've written 10,000 words on a novel I have no need to be writing, but have yet to write the 750 words for my short story. If I put my mind to it I can put out the first draft in half an hour. Now if you'll excuse me, the fudge is about to be stolen.

And in other news

So I'm way far behind in my novel. And this week is not going to help me any in my word count. Except that the evil villain has finally made an appearance. And she has a fondness for repeating the true family name of the Klark family, next door neighbors to the main character's family. According to my villain, who is named Lefitray, the family is really the Klark barbarian rulers of the ancient order of barbarians family. "Which used to be one word, but no one could remember how to spell it so now it was spelled as several words"
So to copy bob, sorry for stealing your idea but I think it will help me get back on track with my novel
Best line today "While this was happy to Octavia, she felt a twinge of jealousy and anger towards her unborn sibling." why do the siblings keep multiplying?
Worst line today "Octavia had celebrated her eleventh birthday since the wedding and Michael had turned twenty one in the interim as well."

Birthday

Ok so yesterday was pretty good. I was woken up by my family singing happy birthday for the third year in a row. At least it wasn't at seven in the morning like the first year that I wasn't home for my birthday. Then I went to church, but left early because I couldn't deal with people. Birthdays are not the easiest thing for me to deal with, especially when they come with the realization that I have no money to go home for Christmas with. But I never have, so I should be able to go home anyway. Enough people here are heading back my way for Christmas. But I couldn't deal with people so I came home. I was glad I did, because Missionary Boy called on his way out to work. Is it bad that I was glad I left church early to get the phone call? It made me so happy to know that, despite us hardly talking recently, he remembered my birthday. Although he knows me too well, and could tell that I was not dealing with life well even over the phone. So he did what he always does and got me laughing. Not stopping the tears, but laughing and crying at the same time. It's a strange skill I have, the ability to laugh and cry at the same time, not tears caused by laughter mind you. And I apparently do it at the exact same time, confusing friends by causing them not to be sure if I'm sad or happy. Usually it's both. But despite everything, it was a pretty good birthday.

Parties

Well last night was great fun. After watching Independence Day we had a very scandalous game of Mad Libs with Cousin taking the cake for the funniest/most scandalous story. Following that we had a game of what if, then we played catch phrase. We got yelled at by our neighbors at 11 pm. And the last guest left at around three or three thirty. Don't worry, it was a female guest that stayed that late. And I'm extremely happy that people came. And stayed after the scandalousness. I promise that I did not intend for scandal. But all in all it was a fun night. And now I have about 8000 words to write, a tree to draw and a couple of tests to study for. Oh well. shouldn't be too bad.

Strange names

So, I'm sitting here half-heartedly working on my novel and I can't seem think. After yesterday's "push". I'm actually going to work harder soon. Friday I think and then Saturday. But tomorrow I have work, which means I'm doing homework, not noveling. Don't worry, I'm allowed to do homework at work. Any way, I'm sitting typing and, like I normally do, I write some random words just to do something. Only they were the full name of Octavia's mother. And I'm not sure where it all came from. But here it is. Clarissa Clara Clora Cleana Coocookoocordagawgaw. And I really don't know why I'm obsessed with long, impossible to spell names like Coocookoocordagawgaw and Rachelinaclora. It's not like this is a characters written challenge. It's a words challenge. And the words need to help the plot, at least somewhat. Although names do. I'm a very name oriented person. Someday, after I'm done with Nano I'm actually going to start and update my name blog.

Where does this crap come from?

So I'm up working on my novel, because I can. And because I don't have anything due until Friday and I can't even start writing that paper until Wednesday. And this is a fact, not me being lazy. I have to write the paper about a movie I'll watch in class Wednesday.
Any way, I writing my novel, I'm way behind fred, m&m, and bob, but whatever. It's not like I have anything else to do tomorrow. But some of the strangest things I have ever written are happening. Like this line She had some sense that he was referring to puberty, but didn’t like to think about that and hoped she could skip that step of growing up and just be an old lady with lots of plastic pink flamingos in her yard and five or six aquariums filled exotic fish. And don't go on about my grammar or spelling or anything. I'm just wondering how a ten year old has decided to skip life until an old lady. But not the stereotypical and cliché cat lady. No she wants to have flamingos in her yard and exotic fish. I love this girl.

Hmmm

So I think I may have been tagged.  By a different name, but still it seemed close enough that I will claim it.  So here

I feel loved when...

About this quiz

Unhappiness in relationships is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages.  It can be helpful to know what language you speak and what language those around you speak.
Tag 3 people so they can find out what their love language is.
And uh, I don't know three people who read my blog that haven't already been tagged, but I tag Lingo.  You know who you are.

NaNoWriMo

Wow, I almost started this entry off with my real name. Let's try this again.
Unit here, actively working on my novel.  Well, not at this exact moment.  I have a plan on where it is going, but am scared to move it along. I have a habit of writing consisely when I know what I'm doing, and that is not going to work. I also have a habit of getting sick of the characters in my stories and wanting them to do something interesting.  Thankfully my main character this time has been talking to me for years now.  Ever since my sophmore year of high school.  She decided to change her middle name right before the first, but it did give her a new nickname.  And her last name needs to be changed, but that will have to wait until after NaNo. It fit in the early stages of her development, but not anymore.  And her brothers are all wonderful, allthough they keep multipliying.  I thought she hadseven brothers, but it turns out that she has nine. And just for the fun of it, here is my main character's family tree

Sorry it's hard to read, but it is a rather large family.  Damita, the outlying bubble, is the second wife and stepmother to the family.  Rachelinaclora, the blue bubble is unrelated as of now, but is likely to marry the oldest son within the course of the novel. Octavia Winifred is my main character.  And if you can read the last name you can guess the rough outline of my story.  But it will be quite different then the one you are used to.  After all, how many fairy tales have ten year olds referencing crime drama's that didn't air until October 2008?

Stupid things that set me into tears

Well, this morning I was woken up by my mom calling me to let me know that they forgot to send the cake and frosting for my birthday.  And I know it's not a big deal.  It'll cost me about three dollars to buy some for myself.  But I was looking forward to it.  And now I'm upset. And I know that it's dumb to be upset about it.  It's not like she did it on purpose, and it's not like I can't get some myself.  Well, actually I can't.  I only have $17 until the day of my birthday party.  Which means that I'm living off of granola bars, a gallon of milk, corn dogs, ramen noodles, and chicken for the next week and a day.  Although looking at that list, it shouldn't be too bad.  And I'm sure I have oatmeal around here too.  And ingriedients to make things as well.  I can even make cookies with what I have. And I do have a cake in my cupboard.  But I wanted funfetti cake for my birthday.  Not german chocolate.  I was highly upset.

Pet Peeves.

Well, I just thought I'd take this time to tell you all a few things that really get on my nerves.
  • Odd numbers, but not all of them.  I really like the number nine.  And multiples thereof. And three is cool too. And I hate the number 8 any time it appears.  I think that I'm going to live through my seventies twice, just to avoid a whole decade of having the numeral 8 in my age.  Eight, on the other hand, is fine.
  • People who insist that a name will never change in meaning.  BabyNameAddicts.com, I'm looking at you.
  • Sisters who call at ten o'clock at night when I have a headache and was asleep.  I should probably call her back though
  • My alarm clock not working properly, or me sleeping through it.  Seriously, I've been know to have emotional breakdowns because my alarm failed to function properly.
  • Political discussions.  I care about politics, but don't enjoy discussing them.  I have my opinions, and try to make informed decisions, but there are very few issues that I can hold my own in.  And as such these discussions serve no purpose other than to stress me out, which is never fun.
  • Losing something, replacing it, then finding the original. Stupid debit card.

What really matters

So in one of my classes this morning we had a discussion about which 5 films we would show at an LDS Film festival held at the SCERA in Orem.  One of the thoughts expressed was that if all that was known about our church in a hundred years were the films shown at this festival, the church produced films would be the most important.  And while I agree that they are the most important films, I don't not think that they are the most important films to be shown at a LDS film festival.  As a LDS girl that grew up in a fairly large LDS population and familiar with the culture enough to find the jokes in Singles Ward funny, these are the types of films that I would want to be shown.  They are the fun films, that aren't going to be too preachy or doctrinal.  And if the church is gone in a hundred years, it won't really matter what we believed.  We were wrong.  So give the people of the future a glimpse of our lives, not our beliefs.  Don't give them something we hold sacred to laugh at, give them something we laugh at to learn from.  And that is all I wanted to say.  And the doctrinal teachings of the church are true, even if your sunday school teacher is preaching false doctrine.  another story for another time.

Phone Calls

I'm so happy.  Mish called me.  And told me where he's going.  And did call before anybody tried to tell me.  So he's forgiven.  Not that he wouldn't be anyway.  And in case anyone was wondering, he's going to the Phillipines, speaking Tagalog, and reports in February.  I'm not familiar with mission calls, I'm the oldest in my family and Mish is my first friend who I'm really close to to leave.  Is it normal to have a report date so far out?  When Falsetto left it was within two months of recieving his call.  Of course Falsetto is serving stateside.  Which is good for me, I can afford to write him.  I have no clue how much it's going to cost me to write Mish, but I have a while to figure out how to fund his letters.  And in case you are confused, Mish and Missionary Boy are the same person, but Mish is shorter to type.

Tears

Tears fall unbidden, yet not unwanted. They are not tears of joy, nor are they caused by sadness. The tears are cleansing, releasing cares and purging worries. Nothing is escapable, or excusable, yet the tears keep coming. The people are watching, but not taking notice. No one cares to inquire the reason for the tears. The tears are calming, a sense of relief floods over. Yet still no one cares. This can't go on, but nothing can stop the flow of tears. The purging must continue. The tears slowly dry as the sobs continue. The crying seems pointless now, but it was satisfying. Nothing can heal the way tears do. The silly things that bring them on don't matter. The fear of people watching is put away. The life that suffers rejoices. And the lips curl gently in to a smile. For all is well. The journey will continue, lives will be touched, people will care. The sorrows will not last, the hurts will not hurt, the forgotten will be remembered, and happiness will prevail.

More Bad Times

Crap. Why do I have to be a creepy stalker? I was reading a friend's blog, and I found out her little brother, and my best friend you all know as Missionary Boy, got his mission call. He had better call me soon, because otherwise I think I'm going to cry. I really do. This week has done wonders to help get those pent up tears out of my system, first a billion tests, then watching Painted Veil in class, and now finding out through a blog where Mish is going. I just don't think I can deal with anymore. I think I need a hug. Or a good dose of funny. Oh, and I lost my debit card today. The second time since July. So I had to call and cancel it. And yes, I know where it was. It was in my pocket. And everything else that was in my pocket is accounted for. Keys, iPod, bus pass, student ID, two pens, a pencil, my phone and a flash drive all accounted for. But no debit card. On the bright side, I hate writing checks, so it will help limit my spending. Hey, I needed help limiting spending last time it disappeared too. Wonder if that means something? Oh well, must finish reading the play to write a paper on it.

Let's talk about conference!  First off I'd like you all to know that I got full points on my notes of conference.  But my favorite conference talks were given by President Monson.  I especially liked how he quoted from plays and commented on the value of cultural events.  I've been kind of wondering if I should continue as a Theatre major or not and I just felt like I'm doing the right thing for my by staying a Theatre major. This is the talk that really helped confirm this Finding Joy in the Journey.

Police Reports

Well, yesterday I had my first ever police/security report written on me. I was running a little behind for work and had a library book that I was going to check out. Problem was I forgot to check it out. Yeah, I got off the elevator and went straight for the exit. And set of the alarm. And had to go back to the security guard. And had to give him my address and birth date so he could write a report. It was very upsetting.

General Conference

I'm so happy. I have no home work left this weekend, except for taking notes on General Conference. And yes, that is an actual assignment. For credit.  And I will post my thoughts, as suggested by Giovanni.  And all of you who are reading join with me in posting your favorite talk with a link to it and your thoughts. I'm looking forward to it, since in April I worked all day Saturday and slept Sunday.  I was not feeling well.  But this time I'll do better.

Printers

So my roommate and I have all been having difficulty with printers recently.  I ran out of ink while making copies for a project I have to do for one of my classes.  It's a pretty cool project, I get to index 45 general conference talks with my own topics.  I'm really enjoying it.  But my printer decided to run out of ink.  I went to buy some ink last week and they were out of the size I wanted.  I alway buy the ink that prints the most, just because I don't like forking money over more than I need to.  Well, on ink anyway.  I did just buy 25 VHS tapes at DI on Friday.  Yeah.  Oh well, they had some good ones.

Friends

I'm so glad that I have friends.  And I kind of feel like all of you are friends.   I know that people are reading this, I just wish I knew who.

Tonight I realized that I'm actually pretty good friends with the kids I work with.  I know I'll always have at least one person willing to give me a ride home after work, which is a good thing when it's a half hour walk home.  In the dark.  Although walking home at night is way less creepy  than walking to campus at 6 in the morning.  At night I know that someone is going to be awake to hear me scream if I get attacked.  No one is up at 6 am on a Saturday.  And at my other job I have some fairly good friends as well.  And I can still call Missionary Boy, at least for another month.  And even though I've given up on ever hearing from Falsetto again, I still write him occaisionally. And people love me.  And that's the best thing ever.  Not me loving others, although that is a very good thing too.  People love me.  My brother even told me that he loves me.  Which is a first.  I hardly know him.  And I suppose I should think of something to email back to him and try to start a relationship with him.  Better late than never.

Happiness is...

Two kinds of ice cream, finding your skate key, telling the time.

Well, life is going well.  Wow that sentence looks awkward.  School is going great, I've been completely caught up on homework every day this week.  I'm ahead on the project due in December.  I'm getting enough hours at work.  I've had something to do every weekend this semester.  Life is good.  But I can't help wonder what's in store.  I've never had life go this well.  So I've been pining for Falsetto recently, but hey.  I've dealt with that before.  I just don't know if I can deal with whatever is about to happen.  And I know some thing will happen, and soon too.  Things are just going to well.  But hey, I'll take it while I can.

The 9000 Men Rant

Let's begin with some rough figures. There are approximately 30,000 students on campus. Around 40% of them are married. For the purposes of my rant these students are all married to other students. This leaves about 18,000 single students. (30,000 - 12,000 = 18,000) Now about half of these are male. Granted many of these are pre-mission or engaged, but they are still technically single. So there are about 9000 single men on campus. And the one who has to start pursuing me is 12 years older than I am. I'm not extremely young. Younger than most my year maybe, but still. He's just really old. And he can't even remember my name. 9000 men , and I get stuck with the Creepy Old Man. He called my apartment the other day, and asked for some name other than my own. He then deleted my number because he thought he had it wrong. And then he found me sitting in the quad between classes today and asked me to homecoming. I made up some excuse about not knowing my work schedule that week. Which I don't know yet, but still. The he asked about this weekend. And I am working this weekend. A lot actually. And then, thankfully, he didn't ask me for my number again. And if by some weird creepy chance he actually is one of my readers, I'm sorry. I did not mean to lead you on (if I did) you just caught me off guard the first time.

Goals

Well, I've never been good at new years resolutions, but Semester goals are pretty good. And since reporting is the best way to ensure goals get accomplished I figured that I would post them here. I don't know if any one still reads this, but that doesn't matter.
SCHOOL
I will do all my homework before class.
I will go to all my classes every day...from this point forward.
I will participate in class discussions, rather than just listen.
SOCIAL
I will get out of the house more.
I will not spend my entire weekend in my room wasting time online.
I will wear make-up.
DATING
See social.
I will try to not scare off the guys with stories of past relationships. (Stupid sub-conscious safety net)
I will not scare them off with stories of my sisters escapades.
I will not give my phone number to men 12 years older than me. Anymore
I will pray that Old Man does not call me.
FUN
I will always have a novel to read with me between classes.
I will watch all my TV shows that I follow, but this may involve watching them online a week later.
I will go to the library once a week.
FINANCIAL
I will only buy brownies from the creamery once a day, or when depressed.
I will leave my debit card at home.
I will bring lunch with me to campus.
MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIPS
I will write all my close friends on missions at least once a month.
I will write the brother I hardly know at least once a month.
I will call home and talk to everyone at least once a month.
WRITING
I will keep up with my ICL course.
I will maintain a notebook of ideas.
I will start a conflict notebook (maybe)
SPIRITUAL
I will read my scriptures every day.
I will say my prayers.
I will go to church.

Recovering

So today has been a pleasant change from the rest of the week. Education week sucks. Although you won't catch me complaing about paying rent in one day. But today was spent in recovery mode. Feet up, TV on, pizza delivered. And next week will be quite a change of pace, before school actually starts again. I love not having anything to do. But I will be glad to have classes again. And Teacher will be back next week. And it will have been a year since Falsetto left. And I'll have a clean closet. Which really has nothing to do with anything, just I like being able to use my closet as something other than a monstrous pile that is likely to eat me anytime I open the door.

Home

So tonight was a little strange. There was a stake dance, and they played Numa Numa, and it just made me incredibly homesick. I want Missionary Boy to call me and tell me where he's going. I want to write him as faithfully and much less awkwardly than I write Falsetto (read maybe once a month, in a good month, and with him giving me the address) Mish and I were best friends. I haven't heard from him since I called him on his birthday. And Silver, the third member of my group of highschool friends hasn't really spoken to Mish or myself since she started dating Boyfriend. Granted I had moved by that point, but still I wish she would call sometimes, instead of just asking for a picture from my family when I dye my hair from light golden blonde to midnight black. Yeah, temporary insanity can strike at any time. As can insane fits of homesickness for something that can never exist any more.

Names and stories.

So I heard back from my new instructor at ICL. She wants my next story by early August. Crap that's now. And I don't even have a story. I have a character who has no name, but she does have a 19 year old brother named Eric, a 5 year old brother Isaac and a babysitter named Emily. She is ten years old, blonde hair, green eyes. But actually I need a conflict to be resolved, and then the rest will work itself out. But was never a ten year old. Ok, so when I was ten siblings the same ages. I really just need to start my collection of story ideas again. And I need to write consistently again. I reallydo love to write, I just don't like doing it for academic purposes. Although I would love to re-write my article on names and get it published. I love names. And I should start working on my name books I'm writing again. not that they will ever be published, but still. She has a name. The blonde, green eyed girl is Lilac. Pronounced Lie lick for all you utahns and other readers who may be questioning my naming abilities. My children will have wonderful easy to prounounce names. And Lingo, I do know that I can not name my daughter Anna Mae, no matter how much I love the names. But I can still have my Kyla Beth. And my Heidi Lynn. And no daughter of mine will have an e tacked to the end of her name, at least not the middle names. Anne is all right as a first name, in fact I would say that it needs the e. But Ann is much prefered (by the supreme naming authority who has never even been kissed yet, me) in middle names.

I got the Grant!!!!

So I wasn't sure if I would be able to continue going to school this next year for financial reasons. I've been working and saving and applying for grants. I finally heard back on the pell grant, after spending three days calling the finacial aid office about problems with my paperwork. And I got it. It makes me very happy. But it's late and I need to sleep. Or read, either one is good.

Working

I don't understand why I have to work. Sure I need food and a place to live and tuition. But isn't there a way to get all that without working? Or stealing, stealing is not a good option either. mostly I'm just bitter that I have to wake up at 5:45 am five days a week. I work at 7 three days, and 8 the other two. But in order to be at my 8 o'clock job on time I still have to leave my apartment at 6:36, and take a bus at 6:43 and another at 7:17. Wow, my cousin is right. I do have too much time on my hands to figure out the exact minute that I need to leave the house. I also know how many minutes it is to walk to campus, walk an infinitely long road to another cousin's house, and how long it takes to walk to my uncle's house. I'm officially insane. Oh well, that's life. At least I enjoy it.

Boys

So I went to the creamery with Lingo today. It's always quite an adventure, me saying random things to her from two aisles down. Of course, that is the extent of the store, so it's not quite as crazy. Or maybe it's more crazy. I'm too tired to think straight right now. Anyhow, Lingo seems to think that creamery guy likes me, or is at least intrigued by me. He's asked about me when I don't come in with Lingo. Then tonight he something about shopping with me being interesting. Lingo almost said he should try living with me, but then didn't. But maybe he does like me. And maybe I'm slightly crazier when he's there because I subconsiously like him. He is kind of cute.

Work

So work has been going well. This week I suddenly went from barely part-time with three jobs to full time and having to cut back hours. Hopefully it lasts. The only bad part is having to to take the bus almost to springville for work. But after working 9 hours today I'm exhausted. I'm about ready to sleep and its not even 8 yet. Don't know that I will, but I want to.

Breakdowns, Blankets and Brownies.

I love brownies, especially the mint brownies with nuts you can get at the creamery and sugar and spice. They make me happy. Especially when I haven't had a good day. And i have no idea why the day wasn't good. I got off work and hour and a half early, after stay a half hour longer than I was needed. And then I came home, and finally started in on the huge pile of dishes we have accumulated. Nurse, Lingo and myself are not the best housekeepers, but these past couple of weeks have been particularly difficult for us to keep the place clean. But I started in on the mess. Any way, I was sitting there watching Charmed and reading some book I got at the library (I finally got a Provo library card, a week after my hometown card expired) because I couldn't deal with the mess any more and don't actually have any obligations this summer. And I had a breakdown. I started crying hysterically. It upset me that I was crying, since I had no reason to be crying. And then I just stopped. Once again for no reason. It lasted about as long as the typical commercial break on TNT, which is significantly longer than the breaks on kjzz. I know, I have time to run to the creamery and pick up a few things when I watch Charmed, but can't even make to the mailbox and back while I'm watching Matlock. Maybe that's why I've been having more breakdowns than normal. My life has no purpose during the summer. The guys don't notice me, and the ones that have are gone. Pharmacy Man went home for the summer (ok, so I noticed him while he noticed someone else, but I did go on two dates with him) Missionary Boy is a thousand miles away and leaving on a mission, and Falsetto is far away in Florida on his mission. So dating seems out of the picture. Getting another job would just be way too stressful, I already have three. Although I'm still only working part-time, not quite sure how that works out. Any how, after that breakdown I had three more today and then I couldn't get my ipod to work (think I solved that problem, at least for now) and then I grabbed the 07-08 school year blanket and ran away, although this just meant going to my secret spot and looking at the sky. And then I went to buy brownies, wrapped awkwardly in my blanket. I'm pretty sure Creamery Guy Found it amusing, especially when the blanket fell off when I paid him. Don't worry, I was decently dressed, the blanket was for security like a baby's blanket. Hmmm, Creamery Guy is the only person I've talked about in this blog that I actually call the name I use when writing about them. I love Creamery Guy, and when Lingo goes to the creamery without me he asks about me. Makes me Happy
